Uptown Accessories

These window displays are of Uptown Accessories in Uptown Normal. These displays obviously portray that this is a gift shop. There is not a lot blocking the view of the store, almost using the store itself as a window display. The windows show several items that would be an easy gift for anyone to give. The windows show character and give the message that these items are thoughtful and will be appreciated by the person receiving the gift. The windows are inviting and organized, making the customer want to go inside and explore more through the endless amounts of unique items. I do not think these displays would work well for anything other than a gift shop or trinket type boutique, but in this situation the are very well put together and display the product quite nicely.

The Pod

These window displays are of The Pod in Uptown Normal. This store is very eclectic in taste, and they definitely show this in the displays. They seem a but overwhelming in my opinion. With a passing glance it is difficult to distinguish what the main focus or idea of the windows is. I get the idea of a free spirited person looking to buy something unique that no one else would have, but looking at the window I would still not have an instant idea of what I would want to buy. The amount of color and items in the windows make it seem slightly cluttered and perhaps an intimidating store to try to shop around in.

Apricot Lane

These window displays are of Apricot Lane in Uptown Normal. I feel that both windows are the epitome of "less is more". They are selling to a specific customer and it is quite obvious. The mannequins are the main focus of the window display, with only a few neutral decorations to add a small flair. The outfits correlate with the decorations to attract the female customer who is trendy, outgoing, sociable, and exciting. No outfit is outshined by another because the colors are placed accordingly. This makes the window display attractive as one big picture in addition to each mannequin being eye catching. I always love the window displays at Apricot Lane and believe they do a wonderful job making the customer want to be the girl wearing those clothes.

The Garlic Press

This window display is of The Garlic Press in uptown Normal. The display with the kitchen bowls, apron, utensils, etc. is very bold in its color schemes and immediately draws the eye over. Customers' attention is naturally caught by the fun, bright display and will walk over to further investigate. The window sells a story and a lifestyle; perhaps of a young, outgoing professional in a chic new apartment looking to entertain friends and family. Once the customer is drawn over by the bright colors, the other windows are most likely noticed as a secondary thought. While they are still put together nicely, the first is the most eye catching to me. The window display with the glassware could have been extremely boring, but the bright curtains added the extra flair needed for the customer to picture the merchandise in their own home. I also found the window with the aprons to be a bit boring. Compared to the other two it seems almost like an afterthought, but it does display the product quite nicely. Overall I enjoyed the displays.
